皇冠体育app鈥檝e been working in partnership with the RSPB for over a decade - their values and goals are such a perfect fit with ours 鈥 sometimes a partnership just feels like fate! They鈥檙e the largest nature conservation charity in Britain and understand that climate change is the greatest long-term threat to both wildlife and humans.
RSPB chose us as Britain鈥檚 greenest energy supplier, to supply them with green electricity and carbon neutralised gas.
After over two years of ecological studies, we聽built a full sized windmill at the RSPB鈥檚 head office in Sandy, Bedfordshire in March 2016. This single windmill reduces carbon emissions by around 600 tonnes every year and generates over half the RSPB鈥檚 total electricity needs across its 127 UK locations.
RSPB members have also played a significant part, saving 772 tonnes of carbon year on year by going green with Ecotricity energy. And for every member who has switched to us, we鈥檝e made a donation of up to 拢50 to the RSPB for every year they鈥檙e with us.
Ecotalk helps fund new land for Fairburn Ings reserve
Last year, our mobile phone network, , helped the RSPB to purchase an area of former colliery land, called Fairburn Tips in 皇冠体育appst Yorkshire. Using Ecotalk customers鈥 bill money, we were able to preserve the land for nature - turning bills into hills!
Ecotalk uses the money from customers鈥 bills to , creating vital new habitats for Britain鈥檚 wildlife.
Paul Sands, Director of Growth at Ecotricity, recently visited the reserve to see what鈥檚 changed since Ecotalk helped buy the land and see how things are working out with the re-wilding project.
Paul met with Karen Swaffham, the RSPB Warden at Fairburn to learn more about the birds currently enjoying the site. As well as Herons and Little Egrets, the land has attracted Spoonbills which are now breeding 鈥 one of only a handful of places in the UK where this is happening.
How can you help Ecotricity & RSPB fight climate change?
皇冠体育app can all play our part in fighting the climate crisis, whether that鈥檚 being a member of the RSPB or , or eating a plant based diet, or switching to green energy, which is one of the most effective things you can do as an individual.
皇冠体育app have the same resolute commitment to fighting the climate crisis, which is why we use our customers鈥 bill money to build new sources of renewable energy.
What鈥檚 more, if you switch your energy supply to us through the link below, we'll donate up to 拢50 to the RSPB each year you鈥檙e with us.
