On Friday 28 February, we took to the streets of Bristol with over 30,000 protestors with climate change activist and Time Person of the Year, Greta Thunberg for a 聽demanding action on the worsening climate crisis.

Organised by the 聽the march led by Nobel Peace prize nominee, Greta, drew fans and supporters from all over the country and inspired followers from all different ages and walks of life as she spoke.

Greeted to chants of her name, Greta addressed the crowds criticising governments and the media;

鈥淚t should not be this way, we should not be the ones who will have to lead on this and tell the uncomfortable truth.

Once again they sweep their mess under the rug for us 鈥 young people, their children 鈥 to clean up for them.

皇冠体育app must continue and we have to be patient and remember that the changes required will not happen overnight.

But if enough people are pushing for the change, then change will come. And we are those people. And every single person counts!鈥

Addressing the large crowds gathered at College Green before the march began, Greta urged people to become 鈥渢he adults in the room鈥 as 鈥渨orld leaders are behaving like children鈥 going as far as stating that 鈥溁使谔逵齛pp are being betrayed by the people in power and they are failing us but we will not back down.鈥

The 17 year old Swedish campaigner then proclaimed;

鈥淎ctivism works. So I'm telling you to act.鈥

Crowds of supporters and fellow activists joined Greta on the march through central Bristol. Greta led the march, flanked on either side by fellow young activists behind a green banner reading 鈥楽kolstrejk for Klimatet鈥, Swedish for 鈥楽chool Strike for Climate鈥.

Many people, especially the school children, spoke of the inspiration Greta had given them to make positive changes in their own lives to reduce their impact on the planet and stand up for what they believed in.

Despite the wet weather, our employees joined the march proudly waving the Green Union Jack flag and reminding everyone that we鈥檝e been fighting climate change听飞颈迟丑 our green energy聽for 25 years.

Greta ended her speech by encouraging the thousands of men, women and children in attendance not to give up in the fight against climate change offering a warning to politicians and governments declaring;

鈥溁使谔逵齛pp will not be silenced because we are the change, and change is coming whether you like it or not. Thank you and let's march.鈥

Greta 鈥 we hear you, we support you and we鈥檒l continue to march beside you. 皇冠体育app must act 鈥 and act now!

Climate Clock

The Climate Clock is a version of the Doomsday clock that has been running since 1947 - this tracks the risk of global man-made disaster, through man made technology (like nuclear weapons) - displaying the minutes and seconds left before midnight, when disaster strikes. The climate crisis is a small part of the calculations made.The climate clock uses a similar approach, but, focuses only on the climate crisis - which is the biggest and most urgent existential threat we face."The Climate Clock is a countdown to the biggest man-made disaster we face - but also a measure by which we can track our progress - moving from fossil to renewable energy. It shows we have no time to lose - the clock is ticking鈥" Dale Vince, OBE.
