There are smiles on faces at Ecotricity HQ this morning after the company celebrated two big wins at the Energy Live News Personality Awards last night.

Ecotricity鈥檚 business team won the Sales Squad of the Year Award and head of business and domestic sales Oliver Kernaghan enjoyed personal success as he picked the Rising Star Award.

The awards mark the end of a fantastic year for the business team which retained almost 90% of existing customers over the last twelve months and helped businesses to save a whopping 90,110 tonnes of CO2.

The focus for the team has been on creating deeper business relationships that offer value to both parties, supporting them to meet their sustainability goals and showcasing best practice through PR, social media and the video series.

Paul Sands, director of growth, said: 鈥淭he award is testament to how well our Growth squad are doing this year. It鈥檚 a genuine team effort since all the front end sales negotiations are bolstered by the outreach we do on social media and so on, promoting our green cause.

鈥淭he motivated, professional, ethical sales team we have, backed up by all the colour we bring to our mission through our messaging, and of course the outcome we deliver in terms of building new sources of green energy thanks to our customers, is what sets us apart from other suppliers.聽

Oliver Kernaghan, head of business and domestic sales, said: 鈥淥f course I鈥檓 really proud to have won the Rising Star Award but genuinely it couldn鈥檛 have happened without the hard work and dedication of all of the Growth team. 2018 has thrown up its challenges but the sales team have risen to them (and some!).

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great achievement to be named Rising Star 2018 and I thoroughly enjoy every minute of what I do. Ecotricity is an incredible company to work for and I look forward to leading the sales teams as we continue on our journey of growth.鈥

Climate Clock

The Climate Clock is a version of the Doomsday clock that has been running since 1947 - this tracks the risk of global man-made disaster, through man made technology (like nuclear weapons) - displaying the minutes and seconds left before midnight, when disaster strikes. The climate crisis is a small part of the calculations made. The climate clock uses a similar approach, but, focuses only on the climate crisis - which is the biggest and most urgent existential threat we face."The Climate Clock is a countdown to the biggest man-made disaster we face - but also a measure by which we can track our progress - moving from fossil to renewable energy. It shows we have no time to lose - the clock is ticking鈥" Dale Vince, OBE.
